Overview

Boys & Girls Clubs of Dumplin Valley is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as our next Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

This is a unique executive leadership opportunity for a professional who thrives on variety, enjoys solving complex organizational challenges, and possesses a broad understanding of nonprofit management. The CAO serves as the administrative backbone of the organization and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure excellence in financial management, human resources, grants administration, compliance, technology systems, and organizational operations.

The ideal candidate is not simply a finance professional or human resources specialist. We are seeking a strategic leader with a 360-degree understanding of nonprofit administration who can see how people, finances, grants, technology, compliance, and operations work together to support our mission and the youth we serve.

About the Role

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Administrative Officer provides both strategic leadership and hands-on management of critical organizational functions.

This position serves as the organization's:

  • Lead executive for Finance
  • Lead executive for Human Resources
  • Senior Grants Administration leader
  • Information Technology liaison
  • Compliance and Risk Management leader
  • Strategic partner to the CEO and Board of Directors

The CAO is responsible for ensuring that administrative systems support organizational growth, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

Financial Leadership

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and audits
  • Monitor grant expenditures and reimbursement requests
  • Present financial information to leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Ensure sound financial controls and compliance

Human Resources Leadership

  • Direct recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and employee relations processes
  • Administer benefits, leave management, and personnel records
  • Support employee performance management and professional development
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and workplace safety requirements
  • Foster a positive organizational culture

Grants & Compliance

  • Lead grant development, writing, administration, and reporting
  • Monitor grant compliance and funding requirements
  • Coordinate financial and programmatic reporting
  • Maintain organizational registrations and regulatory filings
  • Support audits and compliance reviews

Technology & Operations

  • Serve as liaison to contracted IT providers
  • Support technology planning, implementation, and staff support
  • Maintain organizational systems and administrative processes
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to improve efficiency and performance

Executive Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO
  • Participate in long-term planning and organizational growth initiatives
  • Support Board and committee activities
  • Provide leadership across multiple departments and functions

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Five or more years of nonprofit leadership or senior administrative experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple administrative disciplines
  • Strong financial management and budgeting experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Seven or more years of progressive nonprofit leadership experience
  • Experience with grant management and compliance
  • Experience with audits, payroll systems, and employee benefits administration
  • Experience working in a Boys & Girls Club or youth-serving organization
  • Experience supporting Boards of Directors and executive leadership teams
