Job Title: Area Director – Lowndes & Brooks Counties

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Supervises: Four Unit Directors & Two 21stCCLC Program Directors

Status: Full-Time with Benefits, Exempt

Location: Based in Valdosta, GA, with regular travel across assigned sites

Position Summary:

The Area Director is the senior operational leader for all Club units in Lowndes and Brooks Counties. This role ensures excellence in program delivery, grant compliance, and community partnerships. As a hands-on leader, you will maintain a consistent presence across sites, serving as the primary point of connection for families and a key driver of safety and strategic growth across the organization’s expanding footprint.

Responsibilities

Unit Director Leadership & Support

  • Primary Oversight: Directly supervise four Site/Unit Directors and two 21st CCLC Program Directors across Lowndes and Brooks Counties, ensuring they have the resources and guidance to manage their units effectively.
  • Operational Advocacy: Act as the first line of support for Unit Directors, assisting them with complex personnel issues, facility needs, and daily problem-solving.
  • Performance Management: Facilitate weekly check-ins and monthly evaluations to ensure Site Directors are meeting operational targets and organizational standards.
  • Escalation Management: Provide executive-level support for elevated parent or student concerns, stepping in to resolve issues that require a senior leadership presence.

Operational Excellence & Safety

  • Daily Operations Oversight: Supervise and support site-level operations—including transportation, meals, and programming—ensuring systems run efficiently, staff are supported, and Club standards are consistently met. 
  • Safety Audits: Partner with the facilities team to conduct regular site inspections and oversee drills, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all youth.
  • Grant Compliance: Monitor site data and program execution to ensure all units remain in full compliance with private, state, and federal grant requirements.

 

Community & Strategic Growth

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain active relationships with school districts and community partners in Lowndes and Brooks Counties to support site integration and sustainability.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with the CEO and the executive team to ensure operational consistency and impact across the region.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications

    • Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience in youth development, education or management.
    • Management: Proven track record of supervising site or multi-site operations and managing diverse teams.
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in nonprofit management, education, public administration, or a related field beneficial.
    • Beneficial skills: Familiarity with BGCA or K12 Serving standards, 21st CCLC grants or other state or federal funding, and youth protection best practices.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent travel between sites.

    Work Environment & Schedule:

    • Office based in Valdosta, with regular travel to sites in Lowndes and Brooks Counties.
    • Full-time with some evening and weekend responsibilities tied to programming, family events, and emergencies.
    • Participates in leadership team meetings and Board updates, and executive-level planning
