Typical Schedule: School Year: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM 
Full-Day Camps (Spring Break & Summer): Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM 


Hours may vary based on special events, community engagement, staffing needs, and operational demands. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.

The Youth Development Professional plays a vital role in delivering high-quality programming and fostering positive relationships with members at Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama. 

PRIMARY FUNCTION 
The Clubhouse Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of a designated Clubhouse. This includes oversight of programming, staff supervision, membership growth, financial sustainability, safety compliance, community engagement, and operational effectiveness. The Director ensures that the Clubhouse delivers measurable outcomes aligned with organizational Key Performance Indicators: Safety, Quality, Engagement, Financial Sustainability, and Growth. 

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
Operational Leadership 

  • Oversee daily Clubhouse operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment for members 
  • Ensure consistent implementation of after-school programs, full-day camps, and special initiatives 
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and BGCA requirements 
  • Monitor facility cleanliness, maintenance needs, and overall site readiness 
  • Serve as the on-site decision-maker and primary leader for Club operations 

Program Quality & Outcomes 

  • Ensure programs align with Academic Success, Health & Well Being, Character & Leadership, and Life & Workforce Readiness outcome areas 
  • Monitor program implementation and engagement levels 
  • Utilize membership and attendance data (including My Club Hub/Salesforce) to assess performance and improve effectiveness 
  • Ensure participation in surveys, outcome tracking, and performance assessments 
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in programming 

Staff Leadership & Development 

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time and seasonal staff 
  • Establish high-performance expectations and enforce accountability 
  • Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, teamwork, and respect 
  • Provide coaching and professional development opportunities 
  • Develop future leaders within the organization 

Financial Management & Sustainability 

  • Manage site-level budget and monitor expenditures 
  • Oversee program fee collection and ensure billing compliance 
  • Support revenue growth through membership recruitment and retention 
  • Partner with development leadership to support fundraising initiatives and special events 
  • Ensure accurate documentation for grants, audits, and funding compliance 

Membership & Community Engagement 

  • Cultivate strong relationships with members, caregivers, schools, and community partners 
  • Lead recruitment efforts to increase membership and participation 
  • Address caregiver concerns professionally, escalating sensitive matters as appropriate 
  • Represent the Clubhouse at community meetings and outreach opportunities 

Safety & Compliance 

  • Ensure all youth protection policies are implemented and enforced 
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and incident reporting protocols 
  • Ensure transportation compliance when applicable (including CDL requirements) 
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification 
  • Promote a culture of child safety and professional conduct 

Administrative & Organizational Support 

  • Prepare required reports related to attendance, finance, staffing, and program outcomes 
  • Maintain accurate data in membership and reporting systems 
  • Coordinate with organizational leadership on strategic initiatives 
  • Support cross-club collaboration and assist other sites when necessary 
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of organizational priorities and operations 

Qualifications

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 

  • Minimum four (4) years of direct youth development experience 
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience (Boys & Girls Club or similar organization preferred) 
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and team development skills 
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation and financial oversight 
  • Experience managing staff performance and accountability 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to build relationships with youth, families, and community stakeholders 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under company policy 
  • Experience operating a 14-passenger van preferred 

 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS 

  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification required 
  • Must successfully complete Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Club Director Academy within the first year of employment 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Work occurs in both indoor and outdoor environments 
  • Requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and active participation in programming 
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds 
  • May include moderate physical activity and occasional extended hours 

BACKGROUND & COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS 
All candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check upon hire and annually thereafter, submit a Child Abuse & Neglect (CAN) Form, and comply with all Boys & Girls Clubs of America training, screening, and hiring requirements. Fingerprinting may be required based on specific funding program requirements or regulatory guidelines.
