ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May manage and work with staff on special programs and/or events and/or participate in the implementation of other Club organization activities as requested. Will represent Club at events in the community.
- Approve purchases of supplies and equipment.
- Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
- Assure integrity of cash handling processes within branches.
- Required to drive the Club van periodically; will be required to secure a Class B driver’s license within one year of date of hire.
- Will be required to consult with parents, members, and volunteers verbally or in writing concerning Branch programs and goals.
- Will be required to handle other tasks or projects, as assigned such as but not limited to: building maintenance, painting of building, van maintenance, serving food, set up of AV equipment, etc.
- Will be a California required mandated reporter. Supervises and ensures the safety of members throughout the Club.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Due to the relationships with members, staff, and volunteers, a minimum of 2 years’ commitment is recommended. Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, schools, members’ parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Preferred a 4-year college degree and/or a minimum of 2 years of equivalent/relevant work experience with youth ages 7 -18 years old.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong communication skills, understanding of group dynamics.
- Thorough knowledge of recreation and youth development theory.
- Demonstrated ability in working with Boards.
- Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff, as well as deal with staff and member discipline problems.
- Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
- Skills in fund-raising events.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management abilities.
- Basic knowledge of updating and managing websites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated knowledge of audio/visual equipment use (projectors, screens, televisions, security systems etc.).
- Experience using video development software and other software.
- Mandatory CPR, First Aid, and AED Certifications.
- Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record.
- Ability to learn and teach teamwork, sportsmanship, good character, and citizenship.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Use hands and upper extremities to type and operate computers.
- Manual dexterity to repair equipment.
- Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk to supervise members.
- Noise level in the work environment varies from very quiet to very noisy based on attendance.
- Supervision of large, medium, and small groups is required. BGCCV staff ratio is 1 adult per 20 members.
