Overview

The Director of Development oversees and executes a comprehensive fundraising strategy to grow private revenue in support of the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability. Private revenue currently totals more than $2M annually and includes contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

This is a leadership role reporting to the COO and will collaborate closely with other senior leaders to align strategic priorities and achieve fundraising goals.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop annual revenue projections, fundraising goals, and the corresponding written plan, for all private revenue.
  • Support the ongoing creation of processes, policies, and infrastructure in support of fundraising efforts.

  • Leverage MyClubHub database and coordinate with Manager of Data Systems & Analysis to track and measure fundraising revenue and activity.

  • Manage the donor experience, including a comprehensive stewardship plan, to grow affinity for BGCMB. Collaborate with Director of Communications to develop communications that engage current and prospective funders in our work in meaningful ways.

  • Maintain a portfolio of current and potential major gift prospects including their capacity, philanthropic interests, and their preferred ways of being approached, engaged, and stewarded.

  • Manage Resource Development Committee and engage Board members in meaningful donor cultivation and recognition efforts.

  • Oversee the development and execution of events, including an annual golf tournament, to achieve fundraising goals and awareness metrics.
  • Grow individual giving through two primary means: monthly giving and leadership annual giving.

  • Engage an existing pipeline of foundations and corporations through relationship building, proposal writing, timely impact reports, and strategic employee engagement.

  • Manage grants and other passthrough funding opportunities from Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

  • Be an active voice in the philanthropic community, both locally and nationally, through the Boys & Girls Clubs network.

  • Keep apprised of philanthropy trends and modify funding efforts to support sustainable strategies for revenue growth.

  • Work cross-functionally to foster a culture of philanthropy.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in fundraising or related non-profit experience.
  • Advanced working knowledge of fundraising techniques, including storytelling, donor rights, code of ethics, as well as internal policies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, writing, communication and time management skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously with high attention to detail.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
