The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising youth programming in alignment with BGCAC’s five core program areas: The Arts, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, Character & Leadership Development, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. This role focuses on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for youth ages 13-18.
• Plan and implement activities aligned with the Club’s core program areas.
• Provide a positive learning environment with effective classroom management.
• Supervise daily after-school programming and special events.
• Prepare weekly lesson plans and engage members in high-yield activities.
• Collaborate with Teen Center staff and support organization-wide initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive environment aligned with licensing requirements.
• Support community engagement projects in partnership with the Unit Director.
• Address and manage behavior according to BGCAC guidelines and standards.
• Other duties as assigned by the Unit Director.
-High School Diploma or GED required.
-Experience working with youth in a structured setting.
-Understanding of youth development principles.
-Commitment to being a positive role model and mentor.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to manage youth behavior and lead programming with limited supervision.
-Capacity to plan, organize, and execute youth-centered activities.
Hours of Work: Monday- Friday, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. or similar (5 hours per day)
Starting Pay: $17.60- $20.68/ hour - based on prior education, skills and experience.
