The Chief Development Officer is responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising and marketing strategy, plan, and engine to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue. Working collaboratively with the CEO as part of the leadership team and with the Board, the Chief Development Officer will build a fund development program to include major and individual gifts, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, events, and other plans to successfully raise $6+ million annually. The CDO will drive awareness and advocacy of BGCB’s mission, needs, and deliverables that reflect Bellevue’s changing demographics and ensure the funds to make the mission a reality.
Leadership and Strategy:
Build the infrastructure and team to conduct a well-crafted donor-centered development plan, including donor cultivation and stewardship, major gift solicitation, government, endowment, corporate and foundation proposals, special events, and the communications required to support these activities.
Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget as it relates to marketing and stewardship, managing expenses, and maintaining donor financial records in accordance with standards.
Build a Donor-Centered Strategy:
Lead efforts to continue building a fund development roadmap, including a strategy focusing on donor retention, stewardship, and engaging new supporters.
Drive a corporate and community partner strategy that garners critical support from government, corporate partners, and local foundations.
Support the development of local and state government grants.
Build Fundraising Champions:
Support and manage the CEO’s efforts to steward the Board in their fundraising efforts.
Guide and train the Board, tee up asks, and ensure that all Board members have the support they need to be successful in raising funds for the organization.
Attract, retain, motivate, and develop a strong, purposeful, can-do team of marketing and fundraising professionals.
Identify, cultivate, recruit, and develop fundraising volunteers and Club advocates.
Proactively build authentic partnerships and productive relationships with key stakeholders, influencers, and donors, including funders, corporations, community leaders, families, and government.
Build a Donor-Centered Strategy:
Implement proven development strategies to build, broaden, and diversify the donor base.
Build a Major Gifts Focus:
Lead efforts to build a sustainable individual fundraising program that prioritizes donor retention, stewardship, and relationship building at its core.
Use outcomes and Club stories to engage donors at a higher level.
Build a strong community presence, capitalizing on strong Board involvement at the central and community club level, to heighten awareness via strong statements for support and unifying fundraising activities and events for the greatest collective impact.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*A combination of experience, education, and training listed below provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Experience:
Ten years of progressive responsibility, with experience in development, including at least five years managing staff and working with Boards and high-profile volunteers. Ideally, knowledge of Bellevue's local donor community and corporations is helpful, and a background in youth development and advocacy is an asset.
Education and Training:
A bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or a related field is required.
Licenses or Certificates:
CFRE certification is a plus
