Organization Overview: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie (BGCM) is a vital organization dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for young people in the Muncie community. We offer impactful programs and services designed to promote academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization, champion our mission, and deepen our impact in the community. Position Summary: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the primary leader and an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board of Directors, responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie. This includes leading fundraising and resource development, fostering robust community engagement, managing and developing a dedicated staff, and ensuring the organization's programs and services effectively meet the needs of Muncie's youth. The CEO will be a passionate advocate for the Club, working to elevate its presence and impact throughout the community while adhering to the guidelines and standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Vision:

  • Provide inspirational leadership to the staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and community partners, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and commitment to the mission.
  • In conjunction with the Board, develop and execute a strategic plan to advance the Club's mission and goals.
  • Ensure all operations, programs, and activities align with BGCA guidelines, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
  • Act as the primary liaison to Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Fundraising & Resource Development:

  • Serve as the chief fundraiser, developing and implementing a diversified fundraising strategy to secure leadership financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sources.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring regular communication and stewardship.
  • Oversee the team responsible for grant writing, special events, and other fundraising initiatives to meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on fundraising initiatives, challenges, and opportunities.

 

Community Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for BGCM, effectively articulating the Club's mission, impact, and needs to the community.
  • Actively engage with city leadership, local foundations, corporations, school administrators, and other community organizations to build partnerships and collaborations.
  • Elevate the Club's visibility and public image within the Muncie community.
  • Advocate for policies and resources that benefit youth and the Club's mission at local and, where appropriate, state levels.

Operational & Programmatic Excellence:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality, impactful programs that meet the needs of Club members.
  • Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all youth, staff, and volunteers.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing team of dedicated staff.
  • Ensure sound financial management, including budget development, oversight, and adherence to fiscal policies.
  • Meet all deadlines for reporting, grant applications, and other administrative requirements.

 

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Be a familiar and approachable presence for staff, Club families, students, and school administrators.
  • Foster strong communication and relationships with all stakeholders to ensure the Club is responsive to community needs and perceptions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates on organizational performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

 

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.

- Proven track record of successful fundraising, program management, and event management.

- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, partnership development, and working with diverse stakeholders.

- Strong financial acumen and experience with budget management and fiscal oversight.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and develop a diverse staff.

- Passion for the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs and a commitment to youth development.

- Ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors. - Must pass all required background checks.

 

Preferred Requirements:

- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Non-profit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work).

- Previous experience within a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development organization.

- Familiarity with the Muncie community and its philanthropic landscape.

- Demonstrated success in elevating an organization's public profile and impact.

- Experience with strategic planning and implementation.

- Knowledge of Boys & Girls Clubs of America's operational standards, programs, and compliance requirements.
