Overview

We are looking for someone with experience managing the accounting functions, preferably in a non-profit setting.

 

The Finance Director is responsible for leading financial planning and analysis processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to support strategic decision-making and business planning under the direction of the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement policies and procedures for all financial planning and analysis functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Board Treasurer and Finance Committee to develop annual income and expense budget.
  • Perform variance analysis to understand and explain deviations from budget and forecast.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyze financial data and identify and discuss trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Lead organizational planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, and control expenditures against budget.
  • Identify areas for improvement, cost savings/efficiency, and recommend actions to optimize financial performance.
  • Responsible for all Federal, State, and local grant reconciliations and invoicing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible work experience managing the accounting functions in a non-profit agency, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are crucial. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and other financial software is expected. 
  • Thorough and demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and generally accepted accounting principles, as well as related accounting practices, processes, and procedures of non-profit organizations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are needed to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to financial planning and decision-making. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for presenting financial information and collaborating with others.
  • Ability to interact professionally with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, and other related agencies.
