Overview

Primary Purpose

The Operations Director has delegated responsibility for the coordination and implementation of ALL Unit & Extension Club Programs; supervising the Unit Directors, and other corporate level program team members and other program support personnel; while also assisting the CEO with the oversite, care, and upkeep of the Unit physical property; and community relations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Gives leadership to the development, planning, implementation, oversight and evaluation of Club programs at all locations, which maximizes the impact of the available resources and is consistent with the Boys & Girls Club approach to Youth Development.
  • Hires, evaluates, and terminates personnel in cooperation with their Unit Directors, Human Resources Director & the
  • Provide leadership and direction directly to the Clubs Unit Directors and organizational level program team members as well as all Youth Development Staff to ensure that they develop the ability to carry out the Club's youth development mission.
  • Ensure team members understand and utilize the organization's goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Facilitate in the development of continued competence and career development for Staff.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and problem solving in delivering services to members.
  • Shares with the CEO in the Responsibility for requisitioning and purchasing supplies needed. Submits statistical and narrative reports on time.
  • Maintains cumulative records on all members.
  • Responsible for operating all programs within the approved budget.
  • Cooperates with other departments to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Ensure all team members maintain a safe, clean environment conducive to youth development.
  • Promote and stimulate interest in Club activities, programs and events by establishing positive relations with the community, volunteers, and member families.  
  • Ensure effective/ timely communications with both staff and Volunteers of the organization and with the public. 
  • Fulfill all administrative functions in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Ensure that requirements set forth in key grant funding are followed by each facility or extension Club in order to maintain said funding.
  • Attend, participate and lead at times all team member staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

 

Other Occasional Responsibilities:

  • Fill in as needed with regards to CEO Duties when CEO is otherwise unable to perform said duties. This is done in close consultation with key board leadership.
  • May occasionally oversee special programs and/or events, and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.
  • May be required to drive Club van/minibus periodically to transport members.

 

 

Qualifications

  • CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION:

    • Must be able to be registered by our organization with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (mybgca.net).
    • Complete required assigned training.
    • Will be required to gain First Aid and CPR Certifications.
    • The ability to earn a valid CDL Driver’s License with Passenger & Air Brake Endorsement to assist in the transportation of members is strongly encouraged.

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    • A bachelor’s degree and/or experience equivalent is required.
    • Demonstrated program development and project management skills to meet the needs of youth.
    • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to direct and supervise teams consisting of 15 to 50+.
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
    • Previous success in youth program development a plus.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Must be able to perform duties which require prolonged standing, walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting, bending for long periods of time.  May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
    • Must be able to use the telephone and other office equipment.
    • Must be able to lift, move, manipulate and or hold objects up to 25 pounds. Objects that exceed the 25-pound weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting, or manipulating.
