Overview

As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City, you are responsible for providing strong leadership, strategic direction, and oversight of the organization. This role demands critical thinking, sound decision making, and the ability to solve challenges with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. Your leadership ensures that daily operations run smoothly, staff members are supported, and the organization continues to thrive in its mission to serve the youth and community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and organizational management, including ensuring high-quality programs and services, maintaining a thriving culture, operational standards, and accountability.
  • Oversee all aspects of finance, administration, fundraising, communications, and operational systems.
  • Ensure continuous improvement by leveraging processes, systems, and empirical data to promote excellence in programs, communications, and doner relations.
  • Engage the Board of Directors through establishing goals, policies, budgets, programs, and strategic involvement.
  • Hold the Board of Directors accountable to the established expectations to ensure community-wide advocacy and support of the club, including fundraising and volunteer opportunities.
  • Guide, Support, and serve the Board of Directors in establishing goals, policies, budgets, and programs aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Provide professional leadership to ensure the Board remains engaged and motivated, including recruitment, training, and strategic involvement.
  • Report regularly to the Board on the organization’s performance, financial health, and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and management of annual and capital budgets in collaboration with the Board and Vice President of Finance, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, best practices, and financial controls.
  • Collaborate with the vice president of Development to secure sustainable financial support and meet fundraising goals, including capital campaigns.
  • Monitor and approve program services, ensuring alignment with The Club’s mission and goals through strategic planning, impact measurement, and other established criteria.
  • Live safety as a core value by ensuring The Club’s management system aligns with The Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) and other industry policies, engaging in training with staff, and addressing vulnerabilities proactively.
  • Oversee all Human Resources and staffing activities, including recruitment, hiring, and continuous professional development and accountability.
  • Serve as a strong community ambassador by fostering and maintaining strategic partnerships with community leaders, local businesses, and other youth-serving organizations.
  • Direct and participate in public relations and marketing initiatives to relay compelling messages about the Club’s impact and enhance the Club’s reputation and presence.
  • Lead and actively participate in fundraising efforts, including doner cultivation, grants, and major gift campaigns to foster sustainable funding plans in collaboration with the Board and Development Team. 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Successful completion of background check in keeping with BGCA standards is required.
  • Possession of a valid Class F drivers’ license, or ability to obtain within a reasonable time of accepting the position is required. Possession of Class E drivers’ license, or ability to obtain within a reasonable time of accepting the position is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience managing operations in a nonprofit organization is required, operational experience within a Boys & Girls Club or a similar youth-focused organization, with three years in a leadership capacity is preferred.
  • Proven experience leading a high-performing organization, division, or project is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, direct, and coordinate operations in a multi-unit organization with strong record of achieving measurable results required.
  • Experience building and managing high-performing teams and effectively engaging volunteer and board members in various professional and evolving situations required.
  • Ability to foster, grow, and sustain key community relationships to navigate organization challenges and achieve strategic goals is required.
  • Data-based strategic decision-making skills are required.
  • Proven dedication to establishing and cultivating a thriving organizational culture resulting in team engagement, development, and professional achievement.
  • Expertise in fundraising strategies, including events, donor cultivation, and grant writing is preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience in working with large, complex budgets and the ability to make difficult budgetary decisions to ensure financial suitability and goal achievement is preferred.
