Overview

As an essential member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee
strategic operational functions, including Clubhouse management, human resources, compliance, safety,
technology, nutrition services, transportation, and facilities, ensuring seamless collaboration among all areas
and departments.The COO will manage daily operations, promoting the organization's mission by empowering a high
performing team and ensuring that everyday activities are rooted in purpose, excellence, and safety. Acting
as a key resource for addressing challenges, the COO will drive process enhancements and align with
organizational policies by nurturing a culture of trust, inclusivity, and accountability throughout the
organization, ultimately making a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning

 

• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across the organization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operational staff.
• Collaborate with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for Club operations that aligns with the organization’s mission and goals.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, consistency, and impact of BGCCG’s operations.
• Shape and guide the evolution of Human Resources strategies that align with organizational growth, fostering a people-first approach to employee engagement and organizational culture.
• Partner with Human Resources to resolve complex employee relations matters, ensuring equitable resolutions that align with organizational values.
• Promote opportunities for staff feedback and engagement to support continuous improvement.

 

Operational Excellence

 

• Support and guide the daily operations of all Club sites, creating safe, welcoming spaces that are aligned with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Closely collaborate with the Director of Programs, Compliance and Training, and Club leadership to co-create and implement best practices for operational processes and program delivery, ensuring quality experiences for BGCCG staff and the communities they serve.
• Collaborate with the team to set and track meaningful performance metrics with a focus on growth and development.
• Cultivate a supportive environment where policies, procedures, and safety standards are collectively upheld, ensuring the well-being and empowerment of both staff and members.
• Lead the design and implementation of streamlined systems for coordinating operational logistics, ensuring efficiency and alignment across all departments and programs.

 

Facilities & Safety

 

• Oversee the development and implementation of the organization’s safety plans.
• Closely collaborate with Club leadership to oversee the management of facilities, equipment, and fleet operations.
• Lead the execution of disaster preparedness and emergency response protocols.
• Nurture a culture of safety that prioritizes the well-being of everyone, ensuring policies and standards are thoughtfully upheld to create a secure and supportive environment for all.
• Drive the creation and execution of partnership agreements that foster shared goals and strengthen BGCCG’s presence and impact in the community.
• Manage relationships with school districts and external partners, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Lead collaboration efforts with food banks and volunteer organizations to expand the reach and effectiveness of BGCCG’s programs.
• Oversee all third-party agreements for BGCCG, including managing contracts for external partners, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
• Closely collaborate with the Mission & Resource Development team on grant and funding proposals, implementation, and reporting.

 

Planning & Reporting

 

• Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of Club operations and track progress toward goals.
• Collaborate with the Director of Programs, Compliance and Training to prepare and present reports on operational and program outcomes and impact to the CEO, Board of Directors, and stakeholders.
• Partner with the Finance Director to align budgeting and resource allocation with organizational priorities.
• Lead efforts to improve data collection and analysis tools for enhanced decision-making.
• Empower and guide the team, particularly Club Directors, in taking ownership of performance deliverables and budgeting to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • BA required. MA or other relevant advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven or more years of Boys & Girls Clubs experience at the Area Director level or higher, or a similar organization.
  • Ability to work with many diverse constituencies.
  • The successful candidate will display a record of leadership and accomplishment with a proven track record with customer service deliverables.
  • Skills: Exemplary interpersonal skills with a strong customer/client focus are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with staff, sophisticated volunteers, and donors.
  • Attentive and active listening skills, organization, flexible thinking, and ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of recruitment strategies to drive youth enrollment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial and analytical data and reporting
  • Demonstrated program management, leadership, and stakeholder management competency.
  • Demonstrated competency in strategy, execution of plans, and goal attainment
  • Commitment to innovation and process improvement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM packages required (Daxko CRM experience preferred)
  • Must live within the geographical service area of Bibb, Monroe, Jones, Peach or Houston Counties.

  • The President & CEO of BGCCG, Phillip Bryant.

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive salary starting at $103,212 annually. Comprehensive benefits, including medical and dental insurance, 401(k) match, and generous paid time off.
