Vice President of Program Impact

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South is the preeminent youth development organization in Southeastern Massachusetts, serving more than 2,500 youth annually from infancy to adulthood from nearly 50 zip codes at our Clubhouses in Brockton and Taunton, 100-acre Camp Riverside property, and at several community extension sites across the region. BGCMS is fueled by a critical mission "to nurture strong minds, healthy bodies and community spirit through youth-driven, high-impact programming in safe and fun environments" to ensure that every child in need of support, opportunity, and belonging has a positive place to spend their out-of-school hours. Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Program Impact will be responsible for driving the quality and impact of the youth development programs and services offered at our Brockton and Taunton Clubhouses and community-based extension sites. They will provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure the effective and efficient daily implementation of our before-and-after-school and weekend programs by managing and mentoring our Clubhouse Executive Directors and positioning their staff teams for success by developing and deploying evidence-based operating models, schedules, curricula, trainings, and tangible tools and tactics.

Through their direct management of the Clubhouse Executive Directors, the VP will set and support strategies to ensure the greatest possible impact of our daily enrichment programs for elementary, middle, and high school members. They will serve as a Child Protection Officer for the organization and be charged with defining, developing, and implementing innovative and high-impact programs and services offered at our Clubhouse facilities for the following areas: structured choice (non-licensed) after-school programming for grades K-7; Teen Center programming for grades 8-12; aquatics, athletics, arts, and assigned Clubhouse-based summer and school vacation week day camps; trauma-informed social-emotional health programs; and data and impact evaluation and reporting.

The VP of Program Impact will provide a clear and actionable strategy to execute the vision for the organization, both internally and externally, as set by the organization’s Board of Directors, Cabinet, and senior leadership team. The VP will support the Cabinet in positioning Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South as a thought leader on youth development, education, and social justice. In close partnership with the highly collaborative BGCMS senior leadership team, the VP is expected to build upon the organization’s success, constructing and fulfilling all assigned financial and operational objectives. The VP should be an inspirational voice and ambitious in their desire to help grow and scale the organization regionally for greater impact.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Partner with the senior leadership team to lead the organization into the future through organizational design, culture, innovation, process improvement, and strong financial oversight.
• Directly supervise a diverse and accomplished group of senior leaders with significant subject matter experts in youth and teen programs and services.
• Provide oversight of all Club afterschool programs, including stewardship of the Continuous Quality Improvement & Program Standards Quality Teams.
• Directly supervise two Clubhouse Executive Directors, as well as our Youth Resource Directors and their teams – providing support and strategic guidance to ensure programmatic quality and operational efficiency.
• Assist with the coaching and professional development of program directors and coordinators, working to build their skills and confidence so that they can mentor, encourage, and motivate all staff.
• Aid and guidance on best practices for troubleshooting program and staff performance challenges. Mentor directors, managers, and coordinators on best practices for proactive planning to improve program management.
• Establish annual program, departmental, and staff goals and objectives and track results against these goals as well as accountability protocols, in collaboration with Clubhouse Executive Directors. 
• Conduct routine site program and administrative audits to ensure full compliance with all standards, structured directives, and processes.
• Attend all state-wide meetings and prepare summary reports on relevant information for the Cabinet.
• Responsible for developing an operations strategy that aligns with and supports the organization’s BLUEprint for Great Futures strategic plan for impact through 2030.
• Foster a culture of innovation, which includes piloting new programs and services, partnering with state and federal agencies, community-based programs, school districts, etc., to address the needs of Club constituents.
• Provide leadership and guidance to senior staff in developing sound operating plans while maintaining compliance with policies, laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop annual performance goals and operating budgets and cascade them throughout the organization to ensure goal alignment and monitor financial reports to ensure financial targets are met, and expenses are controlled.
• Ensure all programs and services are safe, vibrant, well-maintained, and meet all requisite standards, including those set by BGCA, the Department of Early Education & Care, and the Department of Health.

• With a track record of generating growth and consistently setting and delivering against targets, the VP will:
• Identify opportunities to leverage and/or redesign processes, tools, and technology to improve youth development programs.
• Enable higher performance by incrementally improving approaches based on internal and external feedback.
• Benchmark own performance against industry best practices. Create and maintain systems to check and monitor the effectiveness of Club programs.
• Proactively seek to improve community experience through our programs and services and align with the organization’s mission.
• Identify new ways to broaden the impact and reach of BGCMS in the community.

Data Management

• Implement, maintain, and audit all functions of the Daxko Operations, Engage, and Accounting databases consistently to ensure maximum operational efficiency within departmental responsibilities.
• Provide ongoing training, support, and quality assurance/monitoring for all Daxko modules and staff users.
• Consistently reporting on impact by generating management reports as defined by the Cabinet in accordance with reporting timelines and parameters.
• Provide oversight of monthly billing/collections and aging receivables for all Clubhouses within departmental responsibilities.
• Coordinate and gather data for certain required reporting, such as NYOI surveys, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher learning in a related field of study or equivalent relative and quantitative experience.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of professional experience with at least three (3) years of experience in a leadership role within a complex organization overseeing multiple program site locations and direct reports.
• Experience managing large teams in complex organizations with multiple layers of supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Board members, Administrative staff, Club staff, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies.
• Ability to organize work efficiently and apply technical principles to solve practical problems in a timely manner, work well under pressure, communicate well with others, multi-task, and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
• Ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data; proficient in using email, Internet, and other PC-based applications with the ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
• Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management experience, including the ability to work efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines in a cross-functional, team-based environment.
• Demonstrated resource management, budgeting, and analytical skills – including the ability to compile and analyze data for planning and reporting purposes.
• Technological proficiency, including a command of the Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with using a database to track and extract information.
• Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed, including the ability to present in front of large groups, interact with and motivate stakeholders, represent the organization at community events and meetings, and write professionally in emails, etc.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff, families, youth, etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals and teams from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Commitment to professionalism including high expectations and standards of quality, a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics, accountability, and dependability.
• Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results.  
• Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment.
• Willing to provide leadership daily in a normal eight-hour day and occasional night and weekend hours. This position does provide for remote work options.
• Certifications: As outlined in BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated training timelines.  
• This position requires a valid driver’s license and will require frequent local travel.
