Boys & Girls Clubs of Hamilton

 

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000, commensurate with experience
Status: Full-time, Exempt, Benefits Eligible
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

The Director of Operations is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for overseeing all Club operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming, and driving strategic initiatives aligned with BGCH’s mission. This role requires strong leadership in operational management, community engagement, staff development, and financial oversight. The Director will serve as a liaison to the Board of Directors, lead safety initiatives, and build relationships with stakeholders across education, business, and public service sectors.

Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Provide leadership and management of all Club operations, ensuring alignment with BGCH’s mission and core values.
  • Establish and maintain operational policies, procedures, and best practices that support organizational effectiveness and youth development outcomes.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to evaluate Club effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Manage operational budgets, oversee financial planning, and collaborate with the Finance Committee to align fiscal strategy with organizational goals.
  • Lead state and regional Boys & Girls Club initiatives, ensuring compliance with national standards and best practices.

Program & Community Engagement

  • Oversee program development to ensure high-impact experiences that meet the diverse needs of Club members.
  • Strengthen community engagement efforts by fostering partnerships with schools, businesses, and local organizations.
  • Represent BGCH at public events, fundraising initiatives, and community outreach programs.
  • Support the CEO in resource development efforts, including grant applications and donor relations.

Staff & Volunteer Development

  • Lead the recruitment, training, and performance management of all youth development staff, ensuring a high-quality member experience.
  • Oversee professional development programs to enhance staff skills and retention.
  • Manage the organization-wide volunteer engagement strategy, ensuring effective integration of volunteers into Club programming.

Safety & Compliance

  • Serve as the staff liaison for the Safety Committee, ensuring a safe environment for members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) policies.
  • Maintain accurate records related to safety, programming, and operational compliance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in strategic planning and capital campaign initiatives.
  • Travel as required for Club operations, community engagement, and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar nonprofit youth-serving organization.
    • Proven experience managing multi-location budgets and operations.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.
    • Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal abilities.
    • Experience with volunteer program management and staff development.
    • CPR and First Aid certification required.
    • Ability to travel locally with occasional out-of-area and overnight travel.
