Overview

Oversees Club operations and programs with primary concern for day-to-day operations, program development and implementation; staff development and supervision; facilities management and budget management. The COO provides leadership to the strategic planning process and implements new strategic initiatives related to areas such as Operations, Program Services, Finance and Human Resources. The COO is also responsible for regular interactions and updates with the Board of Directors on key initiatives.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of operations, programs, services and activities that facilitate achievement of Youth Development Outcomes; oversee outcome measurement and data analysis to ensure program fidelity and improve quality of Club operations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of organizational infrastructure, in relation to need and available resources, to facilitate achievement of operational goals.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve program effectiveness based on participation and outcomes/goals; recommend modifications to improve program performance and tracking.

 

Team Management & Planning

  • Visit Clubs on a weekly basis to observe programming and provide support.
  • Manage performance of assigned staff in achieving goals, providing technical assistance in program design, development, community relations and program operations.
  • Plan and implement staff development and training programs.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance throughout the organization.
  • Support recruitment, training, and development efforts to ensure the company attracts and retains top talent.

 

Resource Management

  • Monitor monthly Club revenues against enrollment; track monthly scholarships.
  • Create and monitor Clubs’ budgets with Chief Financial Officer; track spending; monitor and report variances in revenues and expenditures.
  • Ensure that operational expenditures align with the company’s overall financial goals.
  • Assist with facilities management, transportation fleet maintenance, and overall asset management.

 

Partnership Development

  • Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families and community organizations.
  • Support board committees as assigned.

 

Grant and Data Management

  • Ensure valid data collection of attendance, programs, mentoring, volunteering and staff trainings for monthly grant reports.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on grant outcomes to CEO.
  • Train and provide support to Club Professionals on programming deliverable reports.

 

Marketing and Public Relations

  • Participate in and promote activities to maintain public trust in Club programs, services and activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of five or more years of Boys & Girls Club experience at the unit director level or higher, or similar organization.
  • Practical knowledge of member tracking database systems such as ezChildTrack and Excel.
  • Considerable knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; and the principles and practices of nonprofit organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations; in personnel supervision, ability to recruit and retain key personnel; oversee facilities management; and manage budgets.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, subordinates, board members, community groups, and other related agencies.
