The Chief Development Officer is the primary fundraising professional of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa. The Chief Development Officer is a key leadership position, providing oversight, coordination and goal setting to develop and implement revenue generating strategies. This includes identification, cultivation and stewardship of current and prospective donors to foster long-term relationships with BGCCI. The Chief Development Officer must be a sophisticated relationship-builder who is able to adapt communication styles to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders with multiple priorities, including the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, Staff, and a diverse donor prospect pool. This role is responsible for developing and executing fundraising strategies that ensures a diversified funding model to support BGCCI programs and services. The Chief Development Officer manages communications, public relations, marketing and online functions for the organization including staff in these areas.
With guidance from the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Development Officer supports the CEO’s efforts in resource development and donor relations. This role manages BGCCI’s fundraising resources, including resource development staff and fundraising budget.
GENERAL/OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Minimum of five years’ experience fundraising through direct solicitations, annual fund campaigns and special events in not-for-profit sector. Fundraising accreditation preferred. Demonstrated track record of fundraising success and direct involvement in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. Experience should include supervision of staff and volunteers. Superior writing, editing and verbal communications skills necessary. Able to manage multiple priorities and be attentive to details.
