Area and Organizational Information:

Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County was founded in 1997 and has 10+ Clubs - in Anacortes, Burlington, Concrete, Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley. Current membership for the organization is approximately 1,700 kids annually - with a daily attendance of 500. The organization is headquartered in Mount Vernon, and our administrative office currently houses the five members of the Mission Support Team. The total Skagit County population is approximately 120,000 - and the County is positioned nearly equidistant between Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC. With just about an hour of drive time to either, the County is positioned well for enjoying the Cultural benefits each provides, without the living expense or regular traffic present in a metropolitan area. The community is attractive to those interested in enjoying the Puget Sound, San Juan Islands, and the mountains of Washington State. Skagit County is home to the nationally recognized annual Tulip Festival held in April that brings spectators in from all over the world.

General Description:

Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Operations is responsible for the management and supervision of the day-to-day operations as Club Director of a traditional Boys & Girls Club as well as oversight of a portfolio of 21st CCLC funded and/or licensed Club Campuses. They will ensure that all locations in their portfolio have the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and other systems in place to meet compliance with local & national Boys & Girls Club expectations, as well as external stakeholders as funding sources and license status requires.

 

The successful candidate will lead and manage their direct reports toward solutions.

 

An ability to demonstrate skills necessary for success, culture fit within organizational values (Fun, Respect, Integrity, Community, Acceptance), passion for the work, and an innovative approach to problem-solving are more important considerations for selection than historical, directly-related experience.

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensures all Club members, families, and staff are provided with a safe environment, free from emotional or physical harm
  • Works to increase overall organizational capacity through various methods that reflect organizational policies and procedures, strategies and goals, and values.
  • Ensures full compliance with all policies, procedures, and Board direction; maintains expense controls within established guidelines; ensures proper documentation and records are maintained.
  • Recruit, manage, and provide career development opportunities for all staff. Conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Ensures that all federal, state, local, and organizational policies, procedures, laws, and regulations are implemented consistently throughout all sites.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with parents, community leaders, and organizations
  • Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services, and activities within the Club and the community
  • Incorporate organizational Values of Fun, Respect, Integrity, Community, and Acceptance into all practices.
  • Ensures program staff establishes and maintains procedures to adequately document program activities
  • Actively engage youth during the school day to build strong relationships
  • Facilitate and provide any necessary translation functions, both oral and written
  • Support a culture that embraces a continuous program quality improvement cycle
  • Event planning and management for local community events
  • Maintain standards and expectations with Federal, State, and Foundation Grant programs
  • Management of multiple sites to ensure safety and compliance in policies & procedures
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree or Greater; or, equivalent education/experience combination
  • Experience leading a team
  • Management experience of multiple sites and teams
  • Must be a minimum of 23 years old with a valid Driver's license and insurance-capable driving record
  • Knowledge of the mission and intended outcomes of Boys & Girls Clubs, and basic principles and practices of non-profit organizations
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess extensive knowledge of policies, procedures, and programs of Boys & Girls Clubs
  • Possess the ability to remain poised, positive, and energetic in a busy work environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use the current technology applications to maintain records and obtain data and information
  • Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Preference of candidates with familiarity and training in YPQA/I
  • Demonstrated understanding of Trauma-Informed Care Practices and Principles
  • MERIT Portable Background Check upon hire possibly with Fingerprinting, if required, or the ability to complete a MERIT Portable Background Check with fingerprinting
  • Basic Stars Training
  • TB Test (must provide documentation within the last 12 months)
  • Current supplemental training requirements per DCYF requirements
  • Preference for Bilingual/literate candidates (English - Spanish/Mixtec/Triqui).
