Overview

Boys & Girls Clubs in Louisiana is a newly formed organization designed to maintain relationships with all Louisiana clubs, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Louisiana’s state agencies, Club donors and advocates, and other external stakeholders to further develop and support the young people of Louisiana.

Responsibilities

The State Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing leadership and direction in overseeing strategic planning and operation of the State Organization, in support of organizational mission and goals. Provides leadership, direction and support to the State Board in developing organizational goals, attaining/allocating and managing resources, and establishing policies. Provides leadership and direction to staff management and partnership development in carrying out the key roles.

 


State CEO Roles and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Report to State Board and execute the decisions of the Board
  • Directly manage the performance of professionals at the State Office and of the Regional CEOs and consult with regional representatives on the State Board and respective Regional Board for decisions of significance (e.g., hiring, terminating) as it relates to the Regional CEOs
  • Direct strategic fundraising and stewardship that allows for the expanded mission of the organization
  • Lead and collaborate with Regional CEOs to build commitment, communicate, and develop a statewide vision and plan for programming and club expansion
  • Collaborate with Regional CEOs and State Office staff to develop organization-wide policies and procedures
  • Communicate and build commitment to the organizational vision and strategy throughout the state
  • Determine and guide effective decision-making across all aspects of the organization
  • Develop strong external collaborations and partnerships in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to help achieve vision and strategy
  • Develop strong relationships with Club boards, staff, and volunteers across Louisiana
  • Direct effective communication to translate key decisions, policies, and major developments
  • Direct staff support to State Board and its committees
  • Ensure budget development and Board knowledge of financial matters
  • Evaluate the changing needs of the organization and modify the forecasting and strategies implemented to achieve the mission and strategic goals
  • Work with Regional CEOs and COOs to develop strategic approaches and consistency across the state as it relates to programming and services, safety, quality, and community engagement
  • Identify opportunities to lessen administrative burden of regional teams so that they can focus on the mission and impact work
  • Implement a strategic planning process that results in the development and implementation of a quality strategic plan
  • Implement administrative and operational systems to support effective operations
  • Oversee reporting, KPI management, and data submissions statewide

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations in a multi-unit organization.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, delegation.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals.
  • Demonstrated competency and ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a Board of Directors, Staff, Community Groups, and other related agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise professionals and other staff/volunteers who may be in distant subunits of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in asset management including financial resources and property.
  • Demonstrated skills and competency in the following areas preferred: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations and of management; and resource development activities and sources of funding.
  • Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions, matrixed or complex organizations.
  • Multi-Unit management experience.
  • Divisional-Level management experience (managing Regional level Executives)
