Class: Exempt, Full Time

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 base annual salary

Hours: 40 hours per week, evening and weekend hours as needed

Location: Family Campus

Telecommuting: Hybrid schedule available after an introductory period

 

Job Summary: The Director of Resource Development is primarily responsible for all organizational resource development and donor management strategies which support the overall sustainability of the organization and advance strategic objectives. Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, this position continually oversees and evaluates the organization’s fundraising and development activities in consideration with predefined goals to reach desired measurable outcomes. This position also supports the Board of Directors in cultivating and soliciting contributions and general support from individuals, corporations, foundations, government agencies, and other sources.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

Leadership & Culture:

  • Upholds BGCGG’s mission, values, and ethics leading out and supporting staff and volunteers in creating and sustaining a culture of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Works collaboratively with all staff to promote and advance organizational goals and an overall culture of philanthropy
  • Exhibits effective and ongoing communication with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, fellow staff, and volunteers for the purpose of exchanging information and providing coordination in support of various organizational events
  • Cultivates and nurtures strategic alliances in the community, including partnerships with businesses, foundations, civic and community organizations
  • Maintains external communications with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, Boards of Directors of such organizations, and the media for the purpose of exchanging fundraising information and promoting fundraising activities

 

Revenue Generation & Donor Relations:

  • In collaboration with the CEO and Board of Directors, develops and executes a comprehensive Resource Development plan, which aligns with the organizational strategic plan for single and multi-year resource development efforts
  • In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, manages the Resource Development specific calendar of events, including fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship activities
  • Oversees planning and execution of Resource Development aspects of organizational special events, including obtaining sponsorships, solicitation of gifts, and preparing related collateral materials
  • Develops, maintains, and continually increases donor base using GiveSmart database to promote cultivation and solicitation
  • Ensures that donors are appropriately acknowledged and receive timely and accurate communication throughout the year
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates stewardship strategies; sets and manages defined outcomes and tracks progress
  • Researches and analyzes agency, corporate, individual, and foundation donor base and recommends solicitation strategies
  • Responsible for identifying and applying for general funding opportunities that are monetary or in-kind, when applicable
  • Attends and supports Board and Staff committee meetings and monthly Board meetings, as needed

 

Strategic Planning & Fiscal Management

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Resource Development annual budget, controlling expenditures within budget, and maintaining accurate and timely donor and financial records in accordance with standards
  • Maintains contact with BGCA Resource Development staff to evaluate development initiatives that enhance current movement-wide efforts (i.e. planned giving, alumni relations)
  • Increases visibility of Resource Development activities and maintains a positive image in the community and with stakeholders.
  • Manages all Resource Development specific aspects of public relations, and general fundraising communications
  • Works in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator to support the creation of Resource Development marketing materials in print and online (i.e. solicitations, impact report, campaign materials)
  • Incorporates program impact results into Resource Development efforts to create a compelling message for community and donor support

             

Additional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participates in strategic planning and implementation to promote and advance BGCGG’s long-term strategic objectives
  • Provides regular fundraising updates on goals and outcomes to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors
  • Attends community and Resource Development events in support and representation of the organization
  • Supports and carries out other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Operate with the utmost integrity and professionalism at all times
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in resource development, organizational fundraising or related fields
  • At least 3 years of proven leadership experience
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience (Fundraising, Marketing, Business Admin)
  • Knowledge of and passion for the mission and outcomes of Boys & Girls Clubs and basic principles and practices of non-profit organizations
  • Valid CA driver license, reliable transportation, safe driving record with at least two years of driving experience, and current automobile insurance required
  • Superior written, verbal, and non-verbal communication, including the ability to speak clearly and confidently in front of large crowds
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to expand and maintain long term and supportive relationships with all internal and external parties
  • Bilingual capabilities a plus

Requirements

  • Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-20 pounds
