Overview

The Chief Business Officer (CBO) is a senior executive position responsible for overseeing the financial, human resource, and operational aspects of the organization. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CBO plays a crucial role in strategic planning, financial management, and ensuring the efficient operation of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer

Available: Immediately

Rate:  $95,000 - $115,000/ annually

Responsibilities

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the organization's annual budget process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and priorities.
  • Monitor financial performance and prepare regular reports for senior leadership and the board of directors.
  • Implement financial controls and risk management strategies to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Support fundraising efforts, donor relations, and special events, supporting programmatic goals.
  • Monitor and oversee payroll. 

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop long-term strategic plans and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and program expansion to maximize impact.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay abreast of industry trends and competitive landscape.

Human Resource Management:

  • Manage day-to-day operations, including human resources, member management, finance, and administrative functions.
  • Streamline processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including tax filings and reporting obligations.

Partnership Development:

  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with government agencies, corporations, foundations, and other stakeholders to advance the organization's mission.
  • Negotiate contracts, MOUs, and other agreements to support collaborative initiatives and programs.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and public events to enhance visibility and support fundraising efforts.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide leadership and direction to a diverse team of professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Mentor and develop staff members, providing opportunities for growth and advancement within the organization.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to create a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management, human resource management, strategic planning, and operations leadership, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values, with a passion for making a positive impact in the community.

Physical Requirements/ Work Environment

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Occasionally positions self to maintain communication with children
  • Frequently communicates with children and parents who have inquiries about the Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
