Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County is seeking a versatile and dedicated Teen Success Coordinator to provide comprehensive support for teenagers in their academic, career, and personal development. This individual will play a crucial role in guiding Club members through high school and into post-secondary education, while also fostering leadership and community engagement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate College Tours, Career Exploration, and Teen Engagement:
  • Organize college tours, career exploration events, and engaging programs tailored to teens' interests to expose them to various post-secondary education options, career paths, and leadership opportunities.
  • Establish partnerships with colleges, universities, local businesses, and organizations to arrange informative sessions, hands-on experiences, and leadership development activities.
  • Facilitate FAFSA Workshops, Financial Aid Education, and Scholarship Management:
  • Guide and support youth in completing FAFSA forms, understanding financial aid options, and preparing scholarship applications.
  • Research, identify, and manage scholarship opportunities suitable for Club members, tracking funding allocations, deadlines, and disbursements.
  • Develop Comprehensive Programming for Career Readiness, Leadership Development and Educational Growth:
  • Design and implement workshops, seminars, and activities focused on essential skills for job success, such as resume writing, interview techniques, and professional networking.
  • Lead the Keystone Leadership Club, fostering initiative, leadership skills, volunteerism, and community engagement among teen participants.
  • Design and deliver high-yield programs that engage teens and speak to their interests, creating thoughtful lesson plans that align with organizational goals and timelines.
  • Provide Individualized Support, Mentorship, and Advocacy:
  • Offer personalized guidance, mentorship, and advocacy to Club members throughout the college application process, from admissions to financial aid acquisition, and into successful careers.
  • Build supportive relationships with teens, mentoring them to become their best selves and empowering them to overcome challenges and pursue their academic and career aspirations.
  • Facilitate Annual Youth Programs:
  • Lead the annual "Youth of the Year" program , preparing teen finalists to compete for this prestigious honor within the Boys & Girls Club network.
  • Participate in field trips, college tours, and other opportunities for youth to broaden their horizons and explore new experiences.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Community Partners:
  • Work closely with Workforce Development and College Success/Scholarship program staff members to provide comprehensive support to teen members.
  • Identify youth needs and connect them to resources and support services within the Club and the community.

This position integrates elements of college and career readiness, leadership development, and teen engagement to provide a holistic approach to supporting teenagers in achieving their academic, career, and personal goals.

 

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000/annually

Expected hours: Full-time; 40 hours per week

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience working with youth in an educational or youth development setting.
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid options, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, parents, and community partners.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Physical requirements include some physical exertion such as lifting, stretching, and bending in the Club setting and can include sitting and standing for long periods.
