An exciting opportunity to lead the growing Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley (BGCUV) is open, and we are looking for our next Chief Executive Officer to make a positive impact on kids’ lives. We’re seeking candidates who will lead the overall planning and operation of the organization – while providing leadership, direction, and support to the Board of Directors. You will be responsible for bringing the organization’s mission to life, as you work to ensure that area kids and teens achieve great futures by delivering a safe and fun space, creating an engaging Club experience, and managing caring professionals to guide them along the way.
As a powerful testament, an astounding 54% of national Club alumni have expressed that the Club has had a life-altering impact on them. This highlights the incredible opportunity that awaits you and your team to make a profound and transformative difference in the lives of our youth, which will undoubtedly bring about profound and lasting changes.
The ambition for the future of the organization is to be able to increase the BGCUV’s positive impact in Douglas County. One way to achieve that is to increase the number of youth served. Improving program efficacy is another way. Some combination of the two is the likely strategy for success. The new CEO will be tasked with setting the vision, garnering the community’s support, and harnessing the resources to achieve this two-fold impact improvement.
About the Organization
The Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley (BGCUV) is a non-profit youth development organization dedicated to providing hope and opportunity to all kids in 1st through 12th grades.
Far more than a Recreation Center, the Club is a place where young people come to do homework, develop social skills, express themselves creatively, develop leadership skills, develop good character and citizenship, and participate in sports. The Boys & Girls Club offers programs proven to help youth gain the developmental assets they need to succeed in life.
Four key characteristics are critical in providing a positive impact on the life of a child and define the essence of a Boys & Girls Club:
• Dedicated youth facilities – Boys & Girls Clubs are places (actual neighborhood-based buildings) designed solely for youth programs and activities.
• Open when kids need us most – The Clubs are open weekdays after school and during the summer when kids have free time and need positive, productive outlets.
• Professional staff – Every Club is directed by trained youth development professionals who act as role models and mentors to members. Volunteers provide key supplementary support.
• Available and affordable to all youth – BGCUV uses a sliding scale so that any child in 1st through 12th grade can become a member and attend the Club during all open Clubhouse hours.
Through our programs and services, our members develop relationships with positive role models in a safe, positive environment. BGCUV serves over 3000 kids a year and helps about 300 kids each day grow into healthy, responsible, caring young adults.
