The Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County are positioning themselves to be the premier provider of Youth Development Programs in our area through targeted outreach initiatives, strategic partnerships with schools and local governments, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Boys & Girls Clubs of Whatcom County was founded in 1946 and has been a pillar of youth programming in the community ever since. With four Clubhouses, and four licensed care center campuses we are the largest provider of youth programming in Whatcom County.
Under the supervision of the CEO, the VP of Resource Development is the Chief Fundraiser for the organization; responsible for leading and executing current and long-range strategies required to build a strong fundraising culture and program that meets annual and long-range goals. The VP of Development will drive a strong revenue-oriented culture based on market-driven targets by leading the development team in planning, managing, and implementing fund development strategies for the organization. They will maintain their own portfolio of assigned major donors and prospects and personally make solicitations.
Successful special events will also play a significant role in fund raising. Working closely with the CEO and/ or Board, the VP of RD will design and implement a comprehensive, dynamic strategy that will ensure the success of individual, corporate, and foundation giving. This key leader will develop, research, and oversee grant-based funding opportunities as an expanded channel. Functioning in a highly visible externally facing role, they will represent the organization while cultivating donors, managing staff and volunteers and are responsible to supervise the RD team, currently a full time Marketing Manager, Events & Fundraising Manager, and contracted grant writer. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in creating and expanding a culture of transformational philanthropy through stewardship; providing strong leadership; and having successfully recruited, motivated, and mentored a team of development professionals.
