Overview

The Chief Executive Officer leads the growth and development of the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic, ensuring it is capable of delivering on its long-term vision. This position ensures BGCPP’s fiscal operations, fundraising, marketing, human resources, and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented across all segments of the organization. The CEO plays a valuable role in Board development, in setting and executing the Strategic Goals of the organization and in carrying out its mission.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategic Planning

  • Monitors and approves the organization's program services and assures achievement of its mission and goals.
  • Provides leadership to Club staff by developing administrative and operational standards by which goals will be met.
  • Demonstrates that safety is a core value, ensures that the management system conforms with membership requirements and industry standards and is actively engaged in the safety improvement process.
  • Ensure that the organization is in compliance with membership and other requirements or standards of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, other affiliated and regulatory agencies and that the Organization has standards and measures in place that define effective safety practices, train to those annually, and identify vulnerabilities and strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Oversees the organization's staffing activities, including recruiting, training, and evaluation of both paid and volunteer staff.

Community Engagement

  • Promotes Boys & Girls Club services to individuals, other service organizations, and the local community.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations and expand strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials.

Board Engagement

  • Collaborate with and provide direct support to the Board of Directors by actively informing and engaging the board in issues important to the organization's organization and strategy.
  • Guides, supports, and serves the Board of Directors in establishing goals and developing policies, procedures, budgets, and programs that fulfill the mission of the Boys and Girls Club.
  • Maintain clear lines of communication and organizational transparency.
  • Assist in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of Board Members.

Financial Control and Management

  • Coordinate with Chief Financial Officer to ensure the development, implementation and monitoring the Club’s annual budget and regular financial reporting.
  • Assures management and attainment of resources necessary to ensure the financial operations are conducted with applicable laws.
  • Ensure that the flow of funds permits BGCPP to make continuous progress towards the achievement of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present needs and future potential.

Resource Development, Marketing and Public Relations

  • Coordinate with Chief Development Officer to ensure RD strategic plan is aligned to the Strategic Plan and will generate revenues through a variety of fund-raising techniques.
  • Actively participate in Fundraising in support of RD plan including management of a portfolio of major donors.
  • Actively work to raise the visibility of the Club and effectively represent the organization and the value of Club to donors, foundations, corporations, and the community at large.

Youth Development/Aquatics Program Oversight

  • Coordinate with Chief Operations Officer and Management Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services while managing for current and future growth.
  • Ensure effective operations including direct delivery of Club programs that support youth development outcomes and evaluation of effectiveness of activities.
  • Strengthen the delivery of programs through new and existing partnerships.
  • Provide direct supervision to Aquatics Director, ensuring that all policies and procedures are up to date and in compliance with all internal and external controls.

Facility Management

  • Coordinate with Operations team to manage vendor relationships as required to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Research and implement large scale facility improvements including securing funding, securing vendors, ensuring compliance with all laws and codes, and overseeing installation.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Masters preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in Executive Administration of a for-profit or non-profit agency or Boys & Girls Club, evidencing effective leadership, revenue generation, and financial responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan, and coordinate operations in a multi-unit organization.
  • Leadership skills, including negotiation, problem solving, decision making, and delegation.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to speak effectively and persuasively to groups and individuals.
  • Demonstrated competency and ability in establishing and maintain effective working relationships with a Board of Directors, staff, community groups, and other related agencies.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in asset management including financial resources and property.
  • Demonstrated skills and competency in the following areas preferred: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs; of the principles and practices of non-profit organization and of management; and resource development activities and sources of funding.

Compensation 

  • Base Salary $175K-$200K + discretionary bonus and competitive benefits package.
