Overview

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for raising the organization’s profile in the Metro Atlanta area in pursuit of strategic, high-value partnerships with companies and foundations. These partnerships will yield revenue, expand awareness of BGCMA among corporate employees and consumers, and leverage corporate talent to enable Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta to serve more kids, more often, with greater impact across Metro Atlanta. 

 

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, adept project manager, and consummate networker, who can ignite enthusiasm and inspire people to support the cause. The Senior Director will partner closely with the Vice President, Resource Development, the Program team, Development colleagues, senior leadership, board members, advisory board members and donors. The position will report directly to the VP, Resource Development.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage a large portfolio of corporations and foundations that represent some of the organization’s largest supporters strategically aligned to BGMCA’s work. 
  • Steward relationships by monitoring grant implementation, sharing relevant updates with institutional donors, and cultivating support with the goal of renewing or expanding the relationship.
  • Manage a portfolio of companies that represent some of the organization’s largest partnerships strategically aligned to our work. Seek to engage these companies in: philanthropic support for BGCMA’s programs, leveraging expertise to enhance BGCMA's programming, engaging employees in volunteer opportunities and special initiatives, and developing opportunities for co-branding and consumer engagement as applicable. It will be critical for the Senior Director to coordinate closely with other members of the Development team to maximize opportunities.
  • Leverage and effectively establish connections with new foundations and companies, assess their alignment with BGCMA, and build a pipeline for funding.
  • Assist in the development of tailored proposals for corporate partners and foundations that align to the organization’s strategic priorities and provide appropriate a level of recognition to donors.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and train 4 full-time development professionals to create and implement effective cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for donors and prospects to effectively drive results in both their individual and team portfolio. This includes a Director of Foundation Giving, Director of Partnerships, Community Engagement Manager, and Director of Institutional Giving.
  • Assist in establishing department’s fundraising goals, ensure funder database records are up-to-date, and aid in preparation of analytical reports to measure progress toward fundraising goals for BGCMA’s leadership
  • Monitor overall expense budget
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • College degree with a preference in Business, Communications, Marketing or Public Affairs
  • 5-7 years of experience working with either foundations or companies, with results in terms of new partnerships and grants
  • Experience co-creating a multi-faceted engagement with a donor
  • Experience with both foundations and corporations a must
  • Experience engaging corporate employees in pro bono opportunities
  • Experience leading and effectively managing a team of development professionals
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to write and speak in clear and compelling ways
  • Project management and budget development experience
  • A positive attitude and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Willingness to work periodic weekends and evenings
  • Ability to manage multiple task and flexibility with demanding workloads.
  • Passionate about youth development for underserved communities and/or addressing social injustice a significant plus
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and project management software tools such as Asana
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce a must
