Overview

JOB SUMMARY 

Under the supervision of the Director of Impact, the Area Program Director provides leadership, standardization, and direction that ensures successful delivery of programs, services, and operations of an area cluster of sites. The Area Program Director directs, supervises, and monitors the administration of policy, logistics, grants, personnel and budget. The Area Program Director will also work with the community, school system, local law enforcement, and other entities. The Area Program Director will prepare for the Director of Impact such reports, stats, plans, or other information as requested. 

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES 

The Area Program Director will communicate the philosophy, objectives, standards, and programs of the Boys & Girls Club through all methods available, to members, their parents, staff, and general public. 

 

Operations Management 

  • Communicates the organization's standard for accountability and standards, ensuring that these are maintained through the area. 
  • Works with other direct reports to evaluate and develop strategies and systems to support the Club in delivering programs and services. 
  • Accountable for adherence to policies and procedures, professional ethics, and rules of conduct for all sites within their area. 
  • Manages the Club staff and volunteers according to the policies and procedures developed by the Club. 
  • Provide oversight for Clubs through the support of direct reports and act as a secondary contact. 
  • Direct achievement of average daily attendance, membership, program participation, and other agency goals both internally and externally. 

 

Staff Supervision and General Management 

  • Hire, train, and supervise Club staff within area in conjunction with Director of Impact. 
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure proper and timely communication of critical information and for facilitation of ongoing planning, problem solving, and discussion associated with operation Boys & Girls Club sites. 
  • Ensure proper monitoring and tracking regarding site operations including scheduling, time management, and hours worked. 
  • Work in partnership with the Executive Directors and other Boys & Girls Club Staff to develop training topics and schedules that assist staff in achieving required skills as well as other training opportunities for personal and organizational advancement.  
  • Responsible for monitoring staff training requirements and ensures staff attends required trainings. 
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluation process for all direct reports and submit performance reviews annually. 

 

Reporting 

  • Ensures compliance for program contracts, MOU’s, and grants including those with community partners, private & public funders, and internal agreements between the organization. 

 

Program Development 

  • Develop with the Director of Impact and program staff a plan aimed at age groups served and insuring maximum utilization of the Club sites. 
  • Schedule programs in accordance with Club hours, school hours and tailor them to all age groups 
  • Supervise Club personnel, members, volunteer, and Club facilities. 
  • Evaluate programs on a regular basis including the NYOI (National Youth Outcomes Initiative) and FFI (Formula for Impact Assessment) to ensure programs are having a positive impact on members and the community. 

 

Administration 

  • Controls all spending, dues, petty cash, and group club accounts, as well as assist the Director of Impact in budget planning as needed. Also clears all expenditures through the Director of Impact. 
  • Responsible for monitoring accurate work hours of staff to the Director of Impact on a bi-weekly basis or as necessary by the Director of Impact. 
  • Determines that adequate supplies are available at each site and regularly inventories those supplies. 

 

Community Relations 

  • The Area Program Director attends community meetings as a representative of the Boys & Girls Club and speaks on behalf of the organization when requested to do so. 
  • The Area Program Director will work closely with other social agencies and schools in order to strengthen and provide more effective services to our youth. 
  • The Area Program Director is responsible for the Club’s publicity of programs and special events. They advise the Director of Impact on their plans for publicity and promotion. 

General 

  • The Area Program Director must present a good example to members, staff, and the community at all times.  The Area Program Director will also perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Impact.
