Overview

The Field Services is responsible for overseeing afterschool programs at various school sites. This encompasses adherence to policy and procedure, appearance of space and successful operation of programs at the sites. The Field Services will provide support to Managers of Enrichment Sites, Unit Directors, and staff at the sites. The focus will be on ensuring exceptional quality at each site in conjunction with BGCA policies and best practices. The Field Services will visit all assigned sites on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Overview:

  • Provide on-site support for UDs by spending time on a weekly basis at each site.
  • Ensures an environment that facilitates achievement of organizational goals, with a focus on safety, cleanliness, appearance of classroom/provided space and programs.
  • Encourages and supports school related functions, acting as liaison to the Director of Enrichment Sites and Managers of Program Enrichment Sites
  • Keeping Managers of Enrichment Sites advised of activities and needs of school.
  • Attends and participates in site meetings as necessary.
  • Attends and assists Unit Director and staff Meetings.
  • Keeps sites informed of changes to policies, goals and programs.
  • Assists the Managers of Enrichment Programs.
  • Keep administration informed of potential issues.
  • Spot check attendance sheets for accuracy.
  • Observe the site enrichment programs, provide guidance and fill out observation forms.
  • Provide onsite training to new Unit Directors for 1-2weeks and Youth Development Professions for 3-5 days to deliver high quality club experience for all. Training will continue as needed.
  • Enforces and ensures that Unit Directors and Youth Development Professionals adhere to Club policies and procedures.
  • Attends mandatory training sessions.
  • Provide coverage for a site whose UD is absent and other coverage is not available.
  • Interacts with parents when necessary.
  • Attend meetings with administrative staff.
  • Assist with supply purchases as needed.
  • May participate in special programs and or events.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by Director of Enrichment Sites.

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Ability to work independently and in undefined environment
  • Be an active problem solver
  • Proficient in Microsoft and email
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to drive own vehicle
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Ability to create a team of staff to operate at a premium level
  • Knowledge of youth development

 

Relationships:

Internal: Maintains close daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain mission, objectives and standards, discuss issues, provide/receive information. Work closely with assigned UDs to provide support, problem solve with both staff and members and to facilitate growth of program.

External: Maintains contact with school staff and members’ parents.

 

Physical Requirements

The employee must remain physically fit enough to keep children safe in an emergency.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office settings to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
