Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position assists the Vice President of Human Resources with the day to day function of the Human Resources department. The position will focus on on-boarding, benefits administration, payroll, recruitment, retirement, worker's compensation and other programs. Duties include conducting new employee orientation and benefit information sessions, coordination of retirement files, benefit reconciliation, and monitoring Workers Comp claims. Assists with coordinating the full range of employee programs throughout the organization and ensures uniformity of services to our multiple locations.

Responsibilities

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

1. Responsible for Human Resources Generalist function including conducting new employee orientation meetings and answering questions regarding Human Resource policies, procedures and benefit programs.

2. Ensures that relevant plan and compliance files are maintained and uploaded as required.

3. Ensures injured workers are treated and monitored under the Worker's Compensation Policy. Ensures that reports are filed in a timely manner.

4. Assists employees and supervisors with questions regarding time off allocation and approval.

5. Conduct employee orientation meetings and assists new employees with completing paperwork.

6. Assist with initiating background checks and drug testing on prospective employees and tracks results in compliance with company policy.

7. Enters information as requested into HRIS database. Prepares reports as necessary.

8. Maintains master files on all employees ensuring completeness of information and file security.

9. Communicates with staff regarding Human Resources topics such as policies, procedures, benefits and safety.

10. Prepares reports as requested.

11. Assist with payroll and perform other duties as required.

 

Other Duties

1. Using appropriate HR programs, software and websites research and perform related clerical duties as requested.

2. Answers telephones, providing general information, referring callers to other staff or taking messages as necessary.

3. Perform other duties as required to ensure HR Department functions are completed in an appropriate and timely manner.

 

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues and receive instructions. Maintains relationships with employees at all levels to ensure high level customer service is given to all.

External: Maintains contact with general public to give and obtain information, either in response to inquiries or as instructed by supervisor.

Qualifications

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

1. BA required in business or Human Resources.

2. Minimum of 5 years Human Resources generalist experience serving in a cross functional environment.

3. Experience in benefits administration, compliance and HRIS systems preferred.

4. Experience with FMLA, ACA, HIPAA and Worker's Comp.

5. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office required. Experience with Ultipro, Plan Source or ADP Workforce Now preferred.

6. Excellent computer, written and verbal skills required.

7. Excellent organizational and technical skills with close attention to detail.

8. Excellent customer relations skills.

9. Able to maintain strict confidentiality.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical requirements: The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and/or technical information with others. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Work environment: Normal office environment.
