Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Director of Development Operations is responsible for working alongside Development Leadership to implement an operational strategy to drive donor investment and engagement with the organization.  This is achieved through customer relationship management software utilization, development of stewardship initiatives, organization of Club engagement opportunities, and a focus on continuous improvement of key metrics and process effectiveness through data collection and analysis.

 

Responsibilities

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  1. Database Management – Oversee a team to accurately and efficiently input data, record gifts, create notes and actions, acknowledge donors, develop dashboards and export information as needed to allow for effective utilization of the platform.  Create systems to ensure regular evaluation of donor data for accuracy and thoroughness.
  2. Customer Relationship Management Utilization – Develop workflows for a segmented portfolio of donors over a multi county footprint.  Configure donor interactions in a standardized but customizable way to ensure a quality donor experience for all donors and supporters.  Equip Development Officers with strategy and tools to drive donor moves management, increase efficiency and expand reach through automation. 
  3. Identification and Tracking of Opportunities – Work with Development team members to identify opportunities for major gifts.  Assist in developing approach and tracking progress.  Create a pipeline to illustrate funding projections to track progress toward goals
  4. Internal and External Reporting – Create reports to track performance and activity of development team as a whole and as individuals.  Develop reports and statistics to be tracked over time to resolve inefficiencies or ineffective processes.  Work with development leadership to provide information requested by boards, committees, and key stakeholders to detail approach and achievement.
  5. Creation of Stewardship Initiatives and Club Engagement Opportunities – Lead stewardship campaigns and efforts through collaboration with operational and event staff to create thank you items, events and programs in Clubs, external messaging and more to provide a streamlined slate of interactions available for Development team members to offer donors throughout the year.
  6. Training and Leading Team Adoption – Work with Development Team to provide weekly updates on performance, tracking interactions, organizing approach and troubleshooting to keep team on track to reach weekly and monthly activity goals.  Provide individualized training to team members to assist in effective utilization of CRM.  Provide updates to development leadership on challenges team members are experiencing to collaborate on strategies for resolution.  Create culture of work through the CRM and database by developing useful work centers, dashboards, and lists for each Development Team member.
  7. Collaboration with Multiple Departments – Work with team members from a variety of organizational departments to develop fundraising approach for the annual campaign.  Create relationships and work closely with Development leadership to develop vision for annual campaign plan of execution.  Collaborate with Development, Events, Volunteer Engagement, Marketing, and Operations to allow for a streamlined implementation of vision, allowing Development team members to focus on fundraising.
  8. Continuous Process Development to Support a High Achieving Fundraising Team – Have a forward thinking and expeditious approach to creating solutions, providing tools, and increasing efficiency of processes and workflows to increase resource development year over year.
  9. Organizational Advocacy – When called upon, meet with individual, corporate, foundation and community leaders to share the Boys & Girls Clubs message and articulate the need for funding support.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.  The employee must have the ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, jump, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle.  The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Working environment:  Administrative environment.
