SUPERVISOR: Club Director

STATUS: Full-time, Non-Exempt -32 hours weekly, benefit-eligible

WAGE: $20.50-$21.64/hr DOQ/DOE

General Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Academic Innovation and Mentoring (AIM) Program Coordinator will implement and manage a comprehensive educational enhancement program to help Club members succeed academically. The AIM Coordinator is responsible for working with staff members to fully implement Power Hour, STEM and Project Learn programs.

Responsibilities

Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):

  • Communicate with parents regarding their Club members academic needs and to provide feedback and support
  • Establish rapport and collaborate with local and elementary schools and teachers to support Club members academic success.
  • Utilize Boys & Girls Clubs of America intranet for program development and planning
  • Coordinate and implement activities in the Club’s Learning Center
  • Program development geared to ages 6-12, especially related to homework assistance, reading and math support, social emotional learning and additional educational enhancement programs
  • Align all Project Learn activities with YPQI format to assure program quality including warm welcome, community builder, defined goal/objectives and implementation and reflection.
  • Oversee outcome measurement, data collection record keeping and reporting8. Implement daily Power Hour (homework help and reading incentive program) and Project Learn (hi-yield enrichment activities) to support member learning and academic success .
  • Manage Learning Center volunteers.
  • Coordinate and implement STEM curriculum and programs.
  • Coordinate and implement Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
  • Oversee mentoring for Club members needing additional support.
  • Collaborate with Program Director on development of monthly, quarterly, and annual calendar of activities and program development.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of behavioral management strategies and behavior success plans.
  • Other related duties as specified by the Club Director or their designee.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Inform and orient other staff members in the Project Learn strategy.
  • Maintain and care for all Learning Center supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain Learning Center bulletin boards, monthly calendars and displays, student success charts and periodic exhibits and displays of Club members’ work.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with organizations that can provide advice,direction and support to the organization’s educational initiative.
  • Pursue Professional Development opportunities for self and staff.
  • Participate and engage in Operations and Leadership Meetings.
  • Assist and participate in Organizational events and training.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills Required:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred, or concurrent enrollment in a degree program related to education, psychology, social work, youth development or related disciplines.
  • Spanish Bilingual/Biliterate Preferred
  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships.
  • Knowledge of reading, STEM education, college readiness and career preparation
  • Demonstrated organization, staff and project management abilities.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit.
  • Pass nationwide background check, drug screening, fingerprint search.
  • Knowledge of youth development principles and developmental characteristics required.
