This is a management position that requires people leadership experience and a
deep knowledge of the camp industry. The Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a 100-acre facility with Olympic size pool located in Millersville, PA. Major responsibilities will include scheduling, supervising staff, and addressing parents. This position requires strong leadership, organization, supervision, communication, and creative qualities. Progressive camp responsibility starts in December and will be the primary focus in April and May. When camp is over, the Program Director will fall under the leadership of a Clubhouse Director to plan, supervise, and lead structured activities that are designed to empower youth, ages 6-18, to excel in school, become good citizens, and lead healthy, productive lives.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
• Maintain all aspects of operations at camp including management of camp facilities,
curriculum, staff, and camper experience
• Create a culture of service excellence for campers, professional development for staff,
and a community that reflects core values around Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
• Assist with planning and facilitating staff trainings
• Supervise and support all camp staff, interns, and volunteers
• Champion the continual evaluation, development, safety, and enhancement of all
facilities and disciplines with a focus on innovation
• Plan, prepare, and facilitate daily, age appropriate programs for campers, ages 6-10
• Manage use of supplies equipment; keep daily inventory of supply and equipment needs
• Maintain proper records, including incident reports, health forms/ waivers for each
camper, and end of week/session behavior management reports and medical reports
• Prepare and submit all paperwork on a daily basis; use established system for
communication with other staff
• Build relationships with parents and campers and act as a liaison to the local community
• Serve as an additional driver as needed
• Pass food service inspection
• Pesticide license or ability to acquire licensure
• Lifeguard Certification or ability to receive certification
o Extra $5000 in salary if pesticide license and lifeguard certifications are achieved

Youth Development

affirmation on a regular basis
Safety
• Set clear boundaries for Club members by enforcing Club rules and policies
• Continually monitor and supervise the safety and behavior of all Club members
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Supervise food service operation
Part-Time Staff Supervision
• Maintain clear communication about schedules and lesson plans with part-time staff
• Provide continuous guidance and coaching to part-time staff
• Have a high standard of excellence for performance management
• Build rapport and boost team morale
Professionalism
• Plan and adhere to the Clubhouse/camp schedule
• Accurately track program attendance and outcomes at both camp and clubhouse
• Complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision
• Attend and make a positive contribution to team meetings and staff trainings
• Maintain smooth flow of communication with other staff and volunteers
• Be a role model for both staff and club members-be punctual, follow dress code, be
mindful of your actions and attitude
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience in youth development, education, or recreation (i.e. coaching) required
• Familiarity with the diverse population that the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster serves
Skills:
• Ability to adjust to a fast pace of work, think on your feet, and use common sense
• Ability to manage a group of kids with distractions/interruptions
• Ability to relate to and motivate youth of various ages
