Since the first doors opened in 1966 Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast has a strong reputation for providing safe, educational and fun programs for local youth between the ages of 6-18. 

 

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Philanthropy Officer is accountable for the overall success of revenue, fundraising, and development in raising $7.25M of annual revenue and supports nearly 160 employees, 200+ volunteers and 3,000+ members across 2 counties in coastal California. The successful candidate will collaborate with the CEO, executive team, regional advisory boards and the Board of Directors, to plan and execute resource development strategies and measure performance against goals. The ideal candidate will have the ability to partner with colleagues, community groups and other stakeholders with the ability to lead large projects and be the organization’s champion in areas of change. 

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead team of regional development directors, development, grant writer, marketing, communications and development operations professionals;
  • Collaborate with the CEO, executive team, regional boards of advisors, Resource Development Committee and Board of Directors in all development activities required to fund organization’s operations and deliver programs within the community;
  • Build and manage an effective plan to combine the development strategies and operations across 2 counties;
  • Build a  dynamic development performance management plan for the team, consultants and volunteers that is objective and measurable. 

 

Revenue Generation

  • Oversee all efforts to meet and/or exceed annual revenue goal of $7.25M, with a 5-year plan to  meet and exceed $15M annual revenue;
  • Act in a leadership role on fundraising efforts to include endowments, major gifts and capital campaigns;
  • Oversee stewardship cycle in the  engagement and retention of alumni, new donors, enhance donor commitment  in the areas of donor participation and increased giving.

Marketing, Communications and Events

  • Lead and manage a team of marketing, communications and public relations professionals focused on building the Boys & Girls Club brand through media and marketing resources within the communities we serve;
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for overseeing all aspects of  event planning, including obtaining sponsorships and solicitation of gifts and preparing related printed materials and publications;
  • Lead and manage a team accountable for designing and maintaining software systems, such as,  customer relationship management software, donor database, direct mail programs and other marketing systems. 

 

Community Engagement

  • Identify, recruit and retain volunteers to drive solicitation and other related activities in each county;
  • Design and lead a new program with 2 regional  directors accountable for developing and managing each regional advisory board;
  • Champion and lead the Resource Development Committee, responsible for planning and implementing development activities;
  • Develop strategic alliances with community leaders and public officials;
  • Build collaborative partnerships with other youth service organizations, members, parents, families, funders and community organizations;
  • Develop creative avenues to increase visibility of the organization in the community and foster good public relations with our partners and stakeholders. 

 

Development Operations

  • Create and manage a  team to effectively research and analyze donor opportunities in our community, within agencies, corporations, individuals and foundations and recommended solicitation strategies; evaluate strategies and plans to successfully identify opportunities to improve results.
  • Build a robust pipeline of revenue using the management capability MyClubHub to successfully forecast opportunities and revenue;
  • Successfully utilize available management tools and resources including MyClubHub, current processes, procedures and performance measurements to build a robust resource development management organization.

 

Revenue Forecasting

  • Develop and maintain monthly and annual revenue forecasting;
  • Develop and implement an annual resource development plan that includes long and short-term objectives for the Resource Development department with measurable revenue targets;
  • Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the organization’s annual resource development activities, through controlling expenditures within budget and maintaining donor and financial records in accordance with nationally accepted standards. 

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of leadership experience leading teams and organizations through change
  • management principles and frameworks;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or similar discipline; MBA preferred;
  • In-depth expertise in fundraising techniques, pipeline management, fundraising campaign management and various sources of funding for non-profit agencies and organizations;
  • Astute project management, time management, administrative, organizational, multi-tasking and follow-through skills;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Expertise with social media, print and other types of marketing channels;
  • Experience with the Boys & Girls Club (BGCA) organization is desired
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teams, board members, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies.
