Overview

FUNCTION – SCOPE STATEMENT:
The Director of Workforce Readiness will have operational responsibility for BGCGH Workforce Pathways for Youth program. The position’s primary responsibility is to create a high quality overall club experience for BGCGH members. The Director will lead and support program development and implementation and budget management of the Workforce Pathways for Youth Grant.

 

Responsibilities

MAJOR JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development and Implementation

Knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, assessing, and evaluating high quality workforce readiness programs in a youth development setting.
1. Establish Club grant objectives consistent with organizational logic model, goals and mission.
2. Develop meaningful measurements and targeted outcomes that provide opportunities for member achievement.
3. Demonstrate leadership in analyzing and refining services as needed to meet the needs of our members and the organizational goals.
4. Manage Club program goals ensuring that Club staff understand and can also effectively communicate standards of the programs.
5. Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in the workforce readiness areas/activities and develop methods for gathering constructive feedback to improve skills in program areas.
6. Ensure the evaluation of priority grant metrics on a continual basis.
7. Identify and support training and development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
8. Earn a workforce professional credential by grant year 3, provided by BGCA.
9. facilitate a suite of workforce training via the National Training Initiative (NTI).
10. enlist local workforce boards to assist with recruitment.
11. complete the workforce diagnostic to assess current workforce program strengths and create a plan for addressing gaps.
12. ensure group mentoring.
13. ensure interest-based activities are provided through the MyFuture platform.
14. coordinate guest speakers, company visits, and career fairs.
15. utilize Career Launch and Diplomas2Degrees curricula to support career education, enabling youth to create career and/or educational plans, as well as a new digital career exploration tool on the MyFuture platform.
16. utilize Career Launch and the MyFuture learning platform to teach teens employability skills to support first-job readiness, such as resume writing, interview skills, public speaking, and presentation skills.
17. coordinate placement of youth participants in internships, pre-apprenticeships, job shadowing, career-based service learning, and jobs. Teens will have multiple opportunities to participate in work-based learning.
18. offer virtual activities such as mock interviews and hiring fairs, resume workshops, and guest speakers from local businesses via Zoom.

1. Assist in prioritizing programs for focus and implementation at all or specific Clubs.
2. Manage program objectives for focus consistent with organizational logic model, goals and mission.
3. Institute systematic approach that supports planning

Knowledge Management: Outcomes & Evaluations

Unwavering commitment to quality programs and excellence in organizational and project management with the ability to achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.

1. Develop the necessary systems, processes and tools to better support the facilitation, collection and sharing of knowledge that is generated by the programs
2. Ensure the key project outcome and/or policy is evaluated and leverages for maximum community and organizational impact
3. Work collaboratively with team to integrate cross program activities and functions
4. Utilize and institute rapid continuous cycle of improvement

Partnership Development

1. This individual must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations including developing collaborative partnerships with school districts, schools, other youth development organizations, parents, families and community organizations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


1. Bachelor’s Degree (BA) or equivalent; or five to seven years related management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. The ideal candidate must be mission-driven and self-directed with demonstrated passion for our organization and what it stands for, while demonstrating a commitment to working collaboratively with a management team of senior professionals.
3. Excellent writing, editing and research skills are required.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, the board of directors, and donors.
5. Able to manage multiple projects.
6. Able to objectively evaluate, make effective decisions and develop alternative solutions.
7. Skilled in written and oral communication.
8. Ability to work harmoniously with people at all levels of the organization.
9. Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing conditions is required.
10. Ability to use computer software required including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.

RELATIONSHIPS:


Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with the Club management to exchange information, seek and give assistance, consultation and direction. Maintain contact with financial staff and support staff. Maintain written and verbal contact with volunteers and donors.

External: Maintain contact with corporate leaders, community, board members, donors, volunteers, vendors and the public to seek financial support and provide information regarding club activities and needs.
