Overview

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Resource Development Director has the leadership role of developing, growing, and creating synergies to enhance revenue through fund development initiatives with emphasis on growing individual giving (annual fund and major gifts), as well as special event revenue. The RDD is a creative, collaborative leader with the ability to inspire and motivate giving, has a deep knowledge of effective corporate and foundation engagement strategies and has the desire to cultivate new donor relationships. RDD will manage existing donor relationships, enrich, and implement an initiative-taking funder engagement strategy, and assure a robust stewardship plan is in place. RDD seeks out opportunities for financial support through grants and sponsorships

Responsibilities

Organizational Planning & Development

Ensure seamless inclusion of development goals and objectives to support short and long-term strategic plan

In partnership with Development team, RD & Finance Committees, develop comprehensive written Resource Development Plan inclusive of policies and funding to support organizational goals and ensure revenue streams are balanced

Submit quarterly progress reports on RD Plan

Develop and track annual goals, objectives, and specific metrics for the Resource Development Committee. Create annual work plans and analyze results against goals, adjusting business unit plans as analysis suggests. Establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of all giving activities including retention, upgrades, and acquisition.

Annual Giving

Develop and maximize fundraising potential by coordinating all fund develop initiatives including, Individuals, Corporate, Special Events, Foundations, Annual Campaigns, etc.

Evaluate all fund develop initiatives annually

Expand network of funders and strategically develop new prospects through initiative-taking outreach, board identified prospects and partnership development

Donor Identification, Evaluation & Recognition

Develop a system to identify contributed support by prospects, suggesting the best means to cultivate, and establishing benefits, services and recognition to prospects and donors

In partnership with Development Team and RD Committee develop custom strategies per donor based on current and realistically predictability funding potential

Review/revise annual donor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship plan

Government & Foundation Grants

Maintain and initiate contacts with appropriate government and foundation officials, maintain/increase possibilities of special grants and other support

Increase the levels of engagement for corporations and foundations that have connections to the BGCT community, as well as those not yet affiliated, preparing for the next phase of the organization’s fundraising expansion

In partnership with Development Team, annually review prepared grant projection report 

Facilitate/maximize government and foundation relations

Endowment & Planned Giving

Determine feasibility of a projected solicitation campaign to secure permanent endowment funds for certain programs, services, and basic operations

Qualifications

Skills:
• Demonstrated success in developing meaningful relationships with major gift donors.

   qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors
• Demonstrated success in achieving high level fundraising goals, preferably for a large or

   national non- profit, demonstrated success managing high level fund development
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, written and verbal

  • Demonstrated ambitious standards of ethics and integrity
    • Collaborator willing to assist and motivate others to achieve success in fundraising campaigns.
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, knowledge of donor

   management software
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with a variety of constituents, setting ambitious

  goals and delivering results
• Exceptional listener with ability to understand the needs and motivations of others,
• Find common ground and build trust with internal and external stakeholders and synthesize a

   wide range of information into compelling narratives
• Adaptable to growing, fast-paced, diverse, results oriented culture

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree from accredited college of university; graduate degree or graduate course work in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience

Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years successful fundraising and/or sales experience, impressive track record with major gift solicitations and portfolio management, annual fund experience, large special event management experience and closing significant foundations solicitations and growing foundations relationships
• Work experience in Boys & Girls Club Movement (national or local Club) preferred.
