Overview

Job Title: Coordinator for Talent Acquisition & Retention       Department: Business Office

Reports to:  Chief Operations Officer             Effective Date: ASAP

 

Job Summary:

The Talent and Acquisition and Retention Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the hiring process of candidates from all stages of the employee life cycle: recruitment, onboarding, orientation, career planning and career development. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, evaluating resumes, conducting  interviews, and gathering recruitment data for the best candidates. This person will work closely with the Business Office and Human Resources team to develop effective strategies and programs to recruit and enhance retention of staff. The Coordinator will also ensure a steady flow of applicants by assuring open positions are visible and compelling.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does assist in the recruitment process, interview of hires, and training of new staff.

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consult with Directors and Coordinators to discover staff requirements and specific job objectives
  • Conduct phone, video and/or in-person interviews
  • Actively communicate with applicants throughout the screening process (including answering questions in a timely manner aiding applicant in acquiring required paperwork, and notifying participants of position updates)
  • Provide a shortlist of qualified candidates to hiring managers
  • Prepare new hire paperwork ensuring legislation requirements are met
  • Stay up-to-date with current recruiting methods
  • Monitors employee retention and works with officials and department heads to develop programs or training to retain good employees
  • Manage applicant tracking system (ATS) to include posting vacant positions, job promotion, on-boarding, accuracy in applicant data and candidate communication.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal, counseling, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.  
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
  • Thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to design and implement full-cycle performance management programs.
  • Must be able to pass a background and fingerprint check.
  • Familiarity with social media such as LinkedIn and other platforms

Education and Experience:

  1. 5+ years of broad HR experience including talent management and performance management.
  2. Recent experience recruiting in multiple discipline areas and levels, including hiring for nonexempt, exempt and leadership positions.
  3. Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  4. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.
  5. Experience designing, developing and supporting organization-wide talent management programs that cover performance management, talent development, coaching, succession planning, data analytics and relationship management.
  6. Previous experience in capturing metrics and producing various employment reports.
  7. Experience in all areas of sourcing such as the internet, social media, networking, employee referrals, job postings, as well as conducting open houses and virtual job fairs.
  8. Experience in working with applicant tracking systems and affirmative action plan requirements.
  9. Current SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
