Overview

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tarrant County is currently accepting resumes for Upward Bound (UB) Project Advisor. The UB Project Advisor is, under the supervision of the UB Director responsible for participation, academic success planning, PreCollege programming, case management, administrative compliance, facility and child safety and relationships.

 

Duties include but not limited to: accountable for recruiting; meet participation goals; act as a liaison between target schools, parents, organization staff, and program staff; accountable for assigned programming and quality programming; provide holistic and comprehensive case management services to members; facility and child safety. May be required to provide support services virtually. May be required to assist with community outreach. There is potential for exposure to germs and illnesses. Employees are to follow all safety procedures and protocols.

 

Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits. Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families and high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

 

Work sites are located in low income areas, challenging neighborhoods, and growth neighborhoods. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times moderate or very loud. Position requires working with small to large groups of youth.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Work regular program hours which are normally 9:00am – 6:00pm but could change based on school needs and/or organization needs. Periodic night and weekends.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with youth and internal/external stakeholders to include school personnel and administrators
  • Ability to be patient with youth and adults
  • Ability to identify needs and find solutions
  • Ability to motivate others into action
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Proficient documentation skills
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow directions both verbally and written
  • Strong working knowledge of secondary core course curriculum
  • Effective organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to provide and knowledge of college preparatory activities
  • Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be able to pass background screen and drug screen at any time.
  • Position requires driving personal vehicle and company vehicle. Candidates must have reliable transportation, liability insurance, satisfactory driving record and a valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle relevant to carrying out duties and to be covered under the company insurance the requirement is for employee to be a minimum of age 21.

  • Bachelor Degree required in education, counseling, social work, higher administration, or an appropriate field related to project objectives
  • Minimum of one (1) year of appropriate and relevant professional experience working for a TRIO federal program or similar related program/project
